Babysitter Session Guidelines
DO NOT –
· Give medication to any child in your care – unless the client has completed the medication form.
· Smoke while you are at any babysitting sessions – this is a big no-no
· Consume alcohol or any restricted substances before or during a babysitting session
· Remove the children from the babysitting session without the client’s permission
· Eat or drink anything from the client’s house/hotel room unless given permission to do so
· Leave the children unattended or in the care of a 3rd party, at anytime throughout the babysitting session
· Allow other persons entry to the client’s house/hotel room without prior consent of the client
· Ask a client for more than the agreed hourly rate of payment
· Use any type of physical punishment on any child
· Use the client’s phone – unless it is an emergency or pre-arranged with the client
ALWAYS -
· Remember YOU are solely responsible for children in your care – at all times
· Research the location of the babysitting session – so you know how to get there
· Try to take along some books, toys or games suitable for the children. Better still take your own Babysitter Kit.
· Aim to arrive about 10 minutes early to each babysitter session
· Present yourself in a professional manner at all babysitting sessions
· Remember you are representing not just yourself – but our agency as well
· Check parents have filled in the important sections of the Family information Checklist before they leave the house/hotel room
· Contact the client first – in the case of an emergency. Contact the agency immediately if you are unsure of what to do
· Tidy up after playing with the children or feeding them a meal
· Leave the house/hotel room as tidy as it was when you arrived
· Leave an agency business card behind with your name on it
· Leave a short note for the client that explains what the children did while they were in your care
· Immediately let the agency know if you have issues or concerns about a babysitting session
